How’s everyone doing today? Hopefully, you’re in good spirits.

It’s definitely feeling like Autumn in my city. The temperatures are usually no higher than the 70’s now. It’s nice. Boise had some Summer days that were miserable when it was dry heat. I’m thankful that our AC was working properly for the most part then (the power went out several times), that the Fire Season should be over (secondhand grass fire smoke sucks!), my kids had access to their friend’s pool (though, I can’t wait until around my Wedding Anniversary next month when we can hit up a hot springs around here or the Riverside Hotel for their heated pool when it snows) and soups, wood burning fires in the fireplace and sweaters are in full gear now.
What I don’t like during Spooky Season is my kids getting sick. Evey (EH-VEE; my oldest) was out for the count yesterday, mostly snoozing. Thankfully, no COVID has been detected, just a sore throat and sniffles from the temperature change and dust allergies from the heater turning on. After my health setbacks from being a long hauler after having Omicron-Delta, nothing’s scarier than getting sick like that again.
What are your favorite ways to stay disease free once it starts to freeze? Let’s stay healthy so we can enjoy all of the fun seasonal activities! What are your favs? I’m going to post my suggestions in a separate post so I don’t get flagged by accident during this Countdown.
Daily Curations
What I’m Listening To: This playlist. (My love for Lo-Fi really amped up during the Pandemic, and Ian (my husband) listens to this genre all the time. The first time I heard this playlist, I was really impressed. For me, Spooky Season begins past July 4th. I love finding the shops that are selling Halloween merch early before they sell out. I found this playlist post Halloween hunting when I needed background noise to inspire me to clean. There’s a track in the middle that legit creeped me out the first time and gave me goosebumps with the added soundboard remixed with the music. It deals with a 9-1-1 call. I play this playlist all the time when I clean now!)
What To Watch: Creeped Out on Netflix (Evey is OBSESSED with this show! It gave me Goosebumps vibes in the best way! I haven’t monitored this closely, but it’s advertised for kids, so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about)
What I Plan On Watching Today: Suspiria 1977 (I haven’t watched this all the way through, so watch at your own risk!)
What I Plan On Reading: The Dracula manga I found at the public library. (Lol How did I not know that this existed before?!?)
Activity To Keep On The Look Out For: If you’re in the Treasure Valley, Monster Mash Sugar Cookie Decorating is totally a thing! You can register via Boise Learns. The class is on the 19th! If you’re out of town, this is your sign to create monster themed sugar cookies for fun!
Witchy Advice of the Day: Avoid breaking mirrors. (The bad luck that follows is the worst. Some of the worst horror stories stem from broken mirrors, both fictional and irl. If affected, it’s best to cleanse yourself with salt baths and sound for at least three weeks after you bury the mirror pieces far away from your home)
Public Fortune of the Day: The Opposer, Desperate and Guru from The Forty Servants (On a Monday, this is an unusual mix. Tons of blockages everywhere. You may be dealing with annoyances in physical form, possibly a person. With Monday’s energy, you may be dealing with liars and illusions. If it’s rainy in your area, it may become super foggy. Best bet is to face the music to the best of your ability, keep your chin up and get help from a source that knows their stuff)
This wraps up Day Two of Countdown To Halloween 2023! Stay tuned!
Happy Haunting,
Vega
